Today was not a run day on getrunning so I just did my station walk, which, actually, was a station run this morning. This was surprising at the time because when my alarm went off at 7.10am I really, really did not want to get out of bed. I slept so well last night I wanted to stay in bed for at least another 2 hours!
But I had to get the car and I had a client at 9.30 so I dragged my self out of bed. My walk started off a bit slow, what with my clicky knee and stiff hips, but after a few minutes it all loosened up and so I started to jog up the road. I pretty much jogged the whole 1.34 miles! OK so there was a bit of walking but I did it faster than I have done in quite a few weeks! I got back and into the shower feeling very pleased with myself.
I am beginning to feel like I want to do something extra on the rest days from the getrunning programme. I know I do a 1.3 mile walk each morning but it's become so routine it doesn't feel like an effort anymore. I do have a number of fitness DVD's gathering dust, I also have a Wii but these things require me to start rearranging the furniture. There is a municiple sports centre up the road but I'm not keen on gyms, especially when the weather is lovely, like it is in the UK at the moment and swimming wrecks my hair! I can't join any teams or groups because my work and social life don't allow for that kind of routine or commitment, so I am going to have to give it some thought....maybe I will change my station walk route and that will satisfy. I'll try that tomorrow.
