This is the last day of the Easter holidays for us Brits. Everything will return to normal tomorrow. I woke up this morning with hubby standing by the bed dressed for running. He was waiting for me to get up and go with him. I may have told you before but he is a runner and can go faster and for a lot longer than my lungs or legs will take me. Reluctantly I got out of bed. I was a bit concerned about today’s run because I was starting week 2 of Get Running which involved 6 runs of 1 ½ minutes each. It may not sound a lot but for me it is!! The first couple of runs were fine. Don’t get me wrong I’m not running at any great pace at all. I just need to get my lungs and legs working in tandem. The last run was the hardest, probably because I had no energy left. I wonder if I should eat a banana or something before the next one. Anyway I actually did it and am now very pleased with myself.
After lunch we went for a stroll around the park. I was trying to march around using my RunKeeper app but had to keep waiting while hubby took endless photos. We came across a mother duck and her chick – I guess the other chicks met a gruesome end as they often do in the wild. They posed for lots of photos and as we walked away a group of male ducks surrounded her and one started to attack her. I was incensed! I know its nature and all that but I couldn’t help myself, the poor chick was getting trampled in the commotion. I tried to push the attacking duck away but it came back for more until I used a bit more force and smacked it! I didn’t hurt it as it was a solid thing. So it waddled back to the water. I know they probably will do it again once we left but I couldn’t just watch it happen. Anyway, having been soooo close to the chick and actually smacking a duck, I think I want one now…
